January 5, 2014
Today is Sunday. Knowing that I am ahead of the game. HA HA. I never know what day it is. When I worked it was so different, but that was many moons ago, and getting older sure hasn’t helped. If it weren’t for my watching my favorite tv shows, I wouldn’t know what day it was. HA HA. Tonight Revenge is back on and Emily doesn’t remember who she is. It should be a good one. And I am so glad that Hallmark Channel stopped showing the Christmas movies. They were all shown over and over and over and over and then over again… I need to relax and watch Frasier and Golden Girls at 11 PM. Ha ha…. See, it really doesn’t take much to make me happy…..
Saw a really good movie today. Last Vegas with Michael Douglas, Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro, just to name a few. See it if you can.
Having leftover chili that I made yesterday. It was really good. So good that at about 1AM this morning I went and got some. If they didn’t want you eating at night they wouldn’t have a light bulb in the refrigerator so you could see in there.
Our January photo challenge for today January 5th is Counter
That’s about it. I need to go fill up the pill box for the week. Fun, fun, fun..
So until next time….

Today’s January Photo Challenge was Fresh… I chose my fresh pot of coffee.. There is nothing like a fresh pot or the first cup..
Started out cool this morning but it’s nice out. I am so tired though. I could not sleep again. What else is new…. I didn’t fall asleep until after 3AM and had to take more heartburn medication. Then I got up early and still have not recovered.
I have a pot of Chili going… No beans. I do not like beans, so I didn’t put them in. If anyone wants some they will have to add their own…..HA Ha. It is smelling so good in here…Will make rice and that’s supper…plenty of leftovers. It’s always better the next day, just like lasagna or soup. Always better the next day…
My face hurts. I can hear it now.. Yeah well, it’s killing me… It just feels so dry or something. I always get the weirdest things happen to me… Again with the snickers from the peanut gallery.. Ha ha..
I’m going to miss Wilton when he goes home. It’s been 10 days. Isn’t there a rule that says possession is 9/10ths of the law. Ha ha… He misses his mom and the walks she takes him on. He has been such a good little boy for me.. Since my back and leg problems prevent me from walking or standing long, he has been a little trooper.. He is not a couch potato when it comes to walking… I feel bad for him. He loves to sleep in my bed and doesn’t move.. I haven’t ever seen anything like it. Gotta go stir the Chili. Be right back…. Well right back is an understatement. It’s almost 9:30 and Mr. Willie just went home. He was so happy to see his momma....
I am going to sign off for now.
Until then

January 3rd photo challenge - Relax
I am babysitting Willie for a neighbor and he is adorable. He loves to sleep in my bed. He has taken over the bed, the sheets, the covers, and the pillow.. Next I wonder if he’ll try out my bi-pap machine. Ha ha…… He does like to relax and chill. More like chillaxin…. Ha ha..
It was dang cold this morning. In the 30’s. Went to the 40’s this afternoon and it was cool but nice. Didn’t do much today. Went to pick up my prescriptions, then to Publix for a turkey sub and stuff to make chili, and other things. Put gas in my car and it was shocked. Ha ha….. I was afraid to put to much in it. Didn’t want it to go into cardiac arrest and quit on me… Ha Ha.
Finished reading my book, “More Than You Know” by Nan Parson Rossiter. It was a really good book. Also, saw the movie “Saving Mr Banks”. If you get a chance, go see this one. It was fantabulous… Tom Hanks can not play a bad part…. He plays Walt Disney in this movie and is trying to buy the book rights to Mary Poppins to make it into a movie. It was so good. You have to see it..
Well, that was my day…..

January 2, 2014 -
Organize is the picture of the day Day two of the photo challenge and I am still doing it. . Yeah
me.. ha ha.. I have so many things that need organizing that my head spins and
my brain (or at the marbles in there) shake, rattle and roll around.
I chose this book that a friend of mine Rachel made for me
as a Christmas gift. It is to keep website addresses and passwords (which I do
forget) in. I have a bunch of envelopes and papers with them on it, and some I
don't even know at all.... So this is the perfect place to start. Start small
and work my way up.. I also like the idea that it is homemade, so that makes it
special.... As soon as I post this I will make my first entry....Or maybe I
should stop writing and do it now. Yeah I think that's what I'll do.. Go get a
snack. I'll be right back....Okay, I'm back. I would show it to you, but I
heard giving out passwords is not a good idea. ha ha. So you will just have to
take my word for it.
Went to Wally World today for some yarn and lunch meat. I
actually got a good riding cart full of juice...There was a huge line for the
deli so I didn't get anything. They carry the Land O Lakes American white
cheese that I like. Publix quit carrying it when then started carrying Boars
Head products. Anyway.....Still have Willie with me. He is so darn cute, but I
forgot about them having to be walked... ha ha... With my sciatic acting up
and my back, it has been a challenge. I know he misses his mom. Michelle takes
him for LONG walks. We go a couple doors down and back. But he is curled in my
bed and seems okay with it..
We are going from being in the high 70's and low 80's to
the 40's or 30's tonight with the wind chills. That's a big drop. If it's cold
I want to see snow. Not drive in it or shovel it, just look at the beauty of
it. As to my water, I am almost done my 3rd one. I will try to have another
one.
Had some good phone conversations today, and one for
almost 2 hours with a friend who we just don't get to talk much or see each
other much since she started working. It was really good to catch up and
laugh like that again. Hopefully we will be getting together sooner than
later. Reminiscing about a class we took at the college 4 years ago and trying
to remember names... ha ha.
There is a lull in the rain so I am taking Willie out, and
then on to watching t.v. Full lineup of good shows tonight. Well at least for
me..
Until next time

JANUARY 1, 2014 HAPPY NEW YEAR
I have been babysitting a neighbor and friends dog and I
been loving having him here... But it has also shown me the challenges I face
with not having a "couch potato" like Beulah. My back and legs just won't let
me walk very far at all.
A few friends are doing this challenge and talked me into
it. Let's see how long it lasts for me. I made day one.. Yeah for me. HA
HA...
This is the January Photo Challenge in case anyone else
wants to join in. It will be fun, well, maybe it will be fun....
Here is my photo for January 1, 2014 -
A Goal.
I really NEED to start to drink more water. I drink very
little liquids besides coffee, and need to start working on the water, so that
is what I am choosing as my goal. No specific amounts, just drink... ha
ha...
Hope you all have a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New
Year.

A Not So Bad Hair Day:
Thursday, January 17, 2013
Today thank goodness was not such a bad hair day… With my birthday coming up, it was time to renew my drivers license. I tried to do it on line, but nope. I had to go in. It’s like they want you to sign over your life. You have to bring in your birth certificate, social security card, 3 pieces of mail with your address on it (no longer than 60 days old), your marriage license because your name is different from your birth certificate, and if you’ve been married more than once, your first marriage certificate (because that has your maiden name on it), your divorce papers, and your current marriage license as it had your ex husbands last name on it. Have I lost you yet?? Ha ha… Then just to be on the safe side I brought in Don’s death certificate. I figured if I didn’t have that, it would be the one thing they wanted. Lo and behold that’s the only thing they didn’t want. All this because of 9/11. Life was so different. The good news is even though they moved I found them. Yeah for me. Ha ha… I won’t have to go through all that again for another 8 years. Phewww…
The best news is that you know how your drivers license pictures are always horrible and look like bad mug shots, well, mine came out half decent. I was shocked that I didn’t hate it.. It’s either shock or the fact that the older you get the more you care less about it. Ha ha…
Now all that’s left of the birthday nonsense is getting my tag renewed. And I will remember to put on the sticker. I had never does this before Don died, so when I renewed my tags, I just stuck the paper in my glove compartment. That’s weird that it’s called a “glove compartment”. This is Florida….No one wears gloves… And then again even if it was cold, wouldn’t you be wearing your gloves and not keeping them in a compartment in your car? Hmmmm. Something to ponder… Oh yeah, so like I was saying, I put the paperwork in the glove compartment ( it still baffles me). I had 3 years worth of papers with the stickers attached in there. Didn’t realize I had to put the sticker on the license plate.. And no one ever stopped me for it. Guess I was lucky. Will get that done in the next few days.
Well, that’s about it for now. Glove compartment, who’d a thunk it…..
Until next time.

January 16, 2013 - RECIPE
Restarting per request..
January 16, 2013
It’s been a long while since I have written on my blog. Nicole misses it so I decided to write today. It is nice this morning, but will be hot (in the 80’s) again today. Waiting for the cooler temperatures. Sure do wish we would have snow here.
I have read many books since the last entry. All 3 of the “50 Shades of Grey” books. There was a really good love story in there. I have read lots of others but can’t remember the titles. I will have to keep track again. Ha ha
My latest obsession, besides crocheting, is pinterest. I can spend a lifetime on there. Ha ha. It would take me being about 300 years old to do everything I have pinned. My favorite are the quotes and the dogs and the crafts and the recipes and well, just all of it. Ha ha..
I saw a recipe, and I use that term lightly, for popcorn. It seemed easy enough so I tried it. I couldn’t fathom making popcorn without oil. The recipe is
POPCORN IN PAPER BAG
½ cup of popcorn kernels
Paper bag
Microwave
That’s it. You put the popcorn kernels in the brown paper sandwich bag. Fold the top down twice, and place standing up in the microwave. Microwave it for 3 minutes (mine took less than 2 minutes). The bottom came apart slightly (enough to have some kernels to clean up in the microwave). It came apart at the seam. Next time I will double bag it. I was so surprised at how fluffy and good the popcorn came out. I will be making it again today with the double bags.
I go tomorrow for my drivers license renewal. I liked it better when we could do it online. Now since 9/11 we have to go in and bring all this paperwork with us. I hope my eyes can read the chart. HA HA. I know my hair will be a mess as it got so long and needs to be cut and have low lights put back in. Hey, it’s a drivers license photo. They never look good. Maybe I should google how to pose for your license picture. HA HA..
Until next time……………..

Continued Journey into Dishcloths ~ Saturday AM, July 14th, 2012
Saturday AM, July 14th, 2012
I plan on having a simple kind of day. Dishes, etc. ha ha. I do have a new recipe that I want to try today. Publix was demonstrating it the other day and so I grabbed the recipe. I really need to go to the store, but I don't feel like it. Maybe later today, or even tomorrow. I also have another pattern for a dishcloth that is a retro one that I want to try my hand at. That may happen today too. ha ha.
I am on a roll. I love this pattern for the dishcloths, which can also be used for washcloths as they are cotton, and so soft.
If anyone has a pattern they would like to share with me, I would love it..

An interesting Personal Ad ~ July 2, 2012
"What would be an interesting personal ad to read in the
newspaper? Imagine who might send it, then write the ad."
This prompted me to think. What would be interesting. I
am such a scatterbrain that everything and anything is interesting. Heck, the
back of the cereal box is interesting. I really need a life. ha
ha.
Maybe the personal ad would go something like
this:
I am looking for someone that will age gracefully with
me. I am kind, caring, considerate, and have a lot of love to give. I love
running on the beach and long walks. I really don't want to put down a physical
description as I don't want to be judged on my looks. A picture will be sent if
you really need to see it. If that's the case, then don't bother to respond, as
I know what you care about. I am looking for someone that is loyal, kind,
considerate, and wants to love me for the rest of my life. If you had a flexible
schedule or stayed at home that would be great. I do need a lot of attention,
but the reward will be yours because you will never find anyone more honest or
loyal than I will be for you. I will protect you with my life, as I would
expect you to do for me. I don't ask for much and I don't require much. Just
love. Pure and simple love.
If possible please respond to the American Humane
Society.
I really want someone to make me feel safe and wanted.
I really want someone to make me feel safe and wanted.
"The Dog".... Gosh, if only it was that
simple.
Please jump on in and add your ad. I would love to hear it. Don't be shy. I don't bite. Get it.. The dog for the ad, don't bite. ha ha. I crack myself up sometimes... ha ha

A Senior Dog’s Prayer - Beulah - June 20, 2012
![]() |
Beulah a lot grey but oh so cute spread out
Wow, I came across this poem and had to post it. I know
Beulah is getting (she's already there) older, and I would never think of
letting anything happen to her because she was old. Coco died at home with Don
and I petting him and talking to him. He was so peaceful until he took his last
breath, I screamed, he opened his eyes, and just went to sleep. I wish I hadn't
done that, but it was a reflex action. He will be missed forever. With Schmutz
we had to have her put to sleep as she was chocking as her tongue had swelled
from her heart problems. We went to the vets and held her while they gave her
the medication to put her to sleep. Again, she was held, loved, and went
peacefully. I will do no less for Beulah whenever her time is.
Beulah is such a nice little girl. She is kind and loves
everyone. She may look old (one of the neighbors when he sees her always says
how's the Old Timer doing. That's okay. She is getting older, just like me.
She's gained weight and turned grey. Hey.. So have I. I am glad I have someone
to grow old with. All she needs to do is look at me with those beautiful eyes
and a tilt of her head and I'm a goner. Yes, in case you haven't guessed it,
she owns me. ha ha.
Here is the poem that just tore me up, and I could not
stop crying. Bless all the old timers who give us all they have and then
some.
A Senior Dog’s Prayer
One by one, they pass my
cage,
Too old, too worn, too broken, no way.
Way past his time, he can’t run and play.
They shake their heads slowly and go on their way.
Too old, too worn, too broken, no way.
Way past his time, he can’t run and play.
They shake their heads slowly and go on their way.
A little old man, arthritic and sore,
It seems I am not wanted anymore
I once had a home, I once had a bed,
A place that was warm, and where I was fed.
Now my muzzle is grey, and my eyes slowly fail.
Who wants a dog so old and so frail?
My family decided I didn’t belong,
I got in their way, my attitude was wrong.
Whatever excuse they made in their head,
Can’t justify how they left me for dead.
Now I sit in this cage, where day after day,
Those younger dogs get adopted away.
When I had almost come to the end of my rope,
You saw my face, and I finally had hope.
You saw thru the grey, and the legs bent with age,
And felt I still had life beyond the cage
You took me home, gave me food and a bed.
And shared your own pillow with my poor tired head.
We snuggle and play, and you talk to me low,
You love me so dearly, you want me to know.
I may have lived most of my life with another,
But you outshine them with a love so much stronger.
And I promise to return all the love I can give,
To You, my dear person, as long as I live.
I may be with you for a week or for years,
We will share many smiles, you will no doubt shed tears.
And when the time comes that God deems I must leave,
I know you will cry and your heart, it will grieve.
And when I arrive at the Bridge, all brand new,
My thoughts and my heart will still be with you.
And I will brag to all who will hear,
Of the angel who made my last days so dear.

Pinky Ring - Memories - June 11, 2012
This is not my pinky finger, just so you know.
It's just that kind of day. Sort of melancholy. You
would think that it would be all of last week with all the rain, thunder, and
lightening we had. And we did get it good. We needed it so bad. Hopefully this
will keep the fires at bay. And it is hurricane season. Dang. There was one
clap of thunder yesterday that honest to pete, made the trailer shake. Scared
the you know what out of me. Beulah had already been there since she sensed it
coming. I don't do storms very well. It just brings home the feelings of being
alone. Oh well..
I started to knit. Yeah for me... ha ha. Well, that may
be a gross exaggeration of knitting. I have learned to put the stitches onto
the needle. ha ha... And I like that part so far. ha ha...
I am trying to do some of the things on my so called
"bucket list". I think it's more of a "I'm bored I want to do.......". ha ha.
I have always wanted to learn to really crochet, knit, and quilting. I am on my
way with crocheting, and I love it. My hands aren't always cooperating though.
With my carpal tunnel and arthritis, they get sore, but oh well, that just lets
me know that they are still there. The saddest part of all that is that I have
had to take off my pinky ring. I just about cried. I have had that on my pinky
for 43 years. I got it as a gift from my mom and dad for my 16th birthday,
along with a great sweet sixteen party. It was my initials DJB with a tiny
diamond. I always thought it sort of looked like a U instead of a J, but I
loved it then, and I love it now. Wish I could find those pictures. Anyway, I
will keep trying to get it on. The strange part is how strange my finger feels
without it. Over the years my fingers have gotten fatter along with the rest of
me, but it still fit. Now old age is doing it for me.
Well this was short, but need to take my baby girl out in
this insufferable heat. At least it's not storming.
Until next time.

Crocheted Baby Booties - Start of TS Beryl - May 27, 2012
I am so proud of myself. I am actually learning to
crochet and it feels so good to make things.
As you can see from the picture, I made baby booties. I
was beside myself. I grew up never thinking I could do much, and so to be able
to do this makes me very happy. And I love my crochet buddies.
We are making baby booties, hats, and afghans to donate to
a Pregnancy Center locally. It feels good to be part of a community and to be
think that tiny little feet will be filling my booties..ha ha. As I've said a
hundred times, it doesn't take much to make me happy.
I will post the directions at the end of
this.
We are in the midst of waiting for Tropical Storm Beryl.
We have had lots of wind, wind gusting pretty good at times, rain bands that are
heavy when they happen, and thunder. As I am writing this it is bright and
sunny out there right now. It is sort of raining about every half hour or so,
then the sun shines. Beulah will need to learn to walk between the raindrops.
ha ha.

My day - May 25th, 2012
What a day, what a day... Had a doctor's appointment
(yeah, what else is new ha ha) and had another right after for my shots, but the
first one ran over by almost an hour so I had to cancel my shots. You can tell
I'm heartbroken over it. ha ha I just have to remember to call and reschedule
it.
Went to the new Hobby Lobby. Today was their grand
opening and I was really disappointed. Not much in the way of yarn at all. I
think Wal-Mart has more. It's about the same as Michael's, but much more
expensive. They had a wheel to spin for Chick-fil-a, and I won a breakfast
sandwich. Yeah.....ha ha. They had someone there with banana muffins and
Dunkin Donuts coffee. If it's DD coffee, I am so there. ha ha. No cream, but
with DD, I can do without it.
Then it was on to crocheting. I worked on making baby
booties.. And yeah... I made one. It is a preemie size and so adorable.
Needless to say, I am so proud of myself. Waiting to see if the other one comes
out the same size. ha ha... I know it should be relaxing, but when I am
learning something I get so tight and tense. ha ha... While there, I got a
phone call from my friend/next door neighbor and she locked her keys in her car
at her work. So I left, went home, let out Beulah, went to her house, looked
for the key and found it. She found a ride home, so I had to just take her to
her back to her car. 30 miles later, I was home. It is in the 90's and my air
doesn't work in my Jeep. Can you say, Ughhhhhh... Hotttttt. Heat........ It
felt so good to come home into the air conditioning. Funny thing is once your
in for a while it doesn't seem as cool. Beulah is even knocked out from the
heat...
Just got off the phone after a nice conversation with a
friend that I was best friends with in high school. Miles and years come
together so nicely. I am so fortunate to have made some wonderful friendships
over my lifetime. It's great re-connecting with people. I thank you all, old
and new for what you have contributed to my life.
I finished Moonlight Road by Robyn Carr yesterday. I am
just blazing through her Virgin River series.
So this has been my day. All in all, it's been a good
day. It's to hot to eat. I might just have a yogurt.
When I finish the second baby bootie I will post a picture
of it.
Until next time..

Beep Beep ~ May 20, 2012
Cars.. Not the normal topic for me, but I was laying
there trying to fall asleep (it was not happening) and I started thinking of
cars I have had. How odd is that.. ha ha
Growing up, I drove my mom's car. She had a canary yellow
Javelin. Remember the commercial with the fish. "Hey..wanna race". Well, I
took that literally and raced and dropped the transmission. I could only go in
reverse. Not a good thing.
Then I got married and we had a Dodge Polaris. Oh how I
loved that car. I don't know if it was so much the car or the fact that the
gears were push buttons. No putting anything in gear. Just push the button and
you were in drive, reverse, etc. (It's the little things that excite
me).
Then I got a 1958 VW bug. That was in 1973 or 1974. It
was red and her name was Tizzy. Yes, she had a name. My grandfather always
wanted to go for a ride. The only problem was it didn't have a gas gauge, and I
had to stick a ruler in there to see how much gas I had. Needless to say, I
would forget and would run out of gas. Not a good thing with an 80 year old man
who decides he's going to walk home.. (15 miles or so from home), getting more
aggravated as the moments went by. And yet, the next day, he would ask to go
for a ride. I loved my grandpa. RIP Pop. Another thing was it was a stick
shift and not synchronized. I did not know how to drive a stick. I would roll
down the hill, buck and stall and stall some more. I had a love/hate
relationship with her.
Then it was a Green Grand Marquis. Nothing special except
it was brand spanking new. Don't remember what happened to it.
Then I remember our 1971 Chevy Chevette. It was a lemon.
I mean a really really sour lemon.... Let's put it this way. A kid on a
bicycle beat me up a hill. But I was so happy with it when we moved to
Florida. Who cared if the transmission was bad, and it had so many problems.
It made it here and I was so excited to drive it on the beach at Daytona. That
got old fast. HA HA. The hatch back was nice for our chairs, cooler, and
fishing rods.
Then my red Dodge Aspen. That is the first car I bought
myself. I was going through my divorce and went and bought it by myself. The
ad said "year, make, model, am/fm radio, cassette player, air, etc. Long story
short. I could not get the radio to work. Got home with it and a friend looked
at it. It had no speakers. So I had to go buy them and he put them in. The ad
did not say anything about speakers so I felt kind of stupid, but oh well.
Whatever... ha ha. I have no idea what a slant 6 engine is, but that is all the
guys talked about. So I'm thinking I made a good choice.
Then it was on to a baby blue Grand Marquis. That was the
prettiest color car I have ever seen. I have not seen another car that color to
this day.
Then onto a black car. ha ha. I don't remember what it
was. ha ha. I do know the seat belt got stuck and I was in the parking lot of
a shopping center and it would not come apart. Thank goodness the seats
reclined. After panicking I thought to lay the seat down and shimmied backwards
out of it. G-d only knows what people must have thought of this woman crying
and wiggling. ha ha.
And now my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I love my Jeep. Yes it
has developed problems over the years, but I love it and Beulah loves being a
co-pilot. She doesn't get to ride in it much anymore as she can't jump up. I
feel so bad for her, but did I mention I love the Jeep. ha ha..
I think there may have been another car or two in there
somewhere, but with my memory and not knowing anything about cars, I think I'd
done quite well...
So that is it for today. I am on my way to the library.
Lucky they are open on Sunday's. I have my potato salad made, and will make my
pounded pork for supper. Plans are in place. Just trying to figure out my
meds. With a few new ones thrown in there because of my finger (a whole nother
story- doctor's on Friday, hospital for x-rays, etc.). Some you have to take
with meals, some on an empty stomach, can't take this with that, etc. It's
enough to make an old lady crazy. ha ha...
Until next time...

My day, my blog,My baby girl ~ May 16, 2012
This is a picture of Beulah in my Jeep back in 2009. She is older by 3 years, (obviously), and has so much gray and a whole lot chubbier.
Oh fun, oh joy... ha ha.. What a day. My legs were so
bad this morning I had to cancel my doctor's appointment because they just were
killing me and I had a hard time getting out of bed. I bet it took me a good 20
minutes of trying, but the pain just would not let me stand on them. I called
and cancelled and rescheduled. I need to remember to put the new appointment on
the calendar. I am so bad about that. They will call the day before to remind
me and I'm thinking, really....I have an appointment tomorrow. I go to so many
doctor's I am thinking of making a chart of the clothes I wear there. I don't
want them to think I wear the same ones all the time, although I do. ha ha.
Beulah was good this morning. Usually she is barking or howling to go out as
soon as she see's my eyes open. Honest to pete, she has the best radar I have
ever known. She can be in the other room. I open my eyes and I hear her
romping to the bedroom, if she isn't already in there. It's the darndest
thing.
I then took her out, came in, made and drank my coffee,
and had a healthy breakfast of leftover macaroni salad. ha ha. It was so
good. I made it yesterday, and my neighbor/friend next door loves it. I called
and told her I made it and she came over. Before she got in the house my
neighbor across the street saw here and so I invited her over too. She loved it
too. It was no big deal and no recipe.
Macaroni - cook it
Mayonnaise and vinegar - mix together as much as you
like
Celery
Tuna
Onions
Kalamata Olives
Green Olives
hard boiled eggs
And voila, macaroni salad... Between the 3 of us we ate
just about the entire pound of macaroni.
Back to today...I called and could finally get Beulah into
the groomer to have her nails clipped. Now this is not easy feat. She is
almost 50 pounds and can't jump anymore. I have to lift her into my Jeep. Take
my bad legs, my bad back, and her dead weight it is not a pretty picture. ha
ha. Thank goodness the groomer took her out of the car and carried her in and
then back out to my car. Bless you Kelly..And she's a tiny thing. Kelly, not
Beulah. Beulah is now limping again. She has the bad leg, and I think when
Kelly was clipping the nails, she may have manipulated her leg and aggravated
it. My poor baby. I won the battle..... What battle you may ask. Her pain
pill battle. She will take her arthritis medication if I crush it and mix it in
with some Frosted Flakes and milk. (Is she spoiled??? Judge for yourself). ha
ha. But any other medicine she will not take. She see's a peanut butter jar
and turns her head and hides. Burying it in food I have a 10 percent chance she
will take it. She usually eats the meat, cheese, etc, and spits out the pills.
Like and idiot I am sitting her making tiny slits in tiny elbow macaroni to
shove the pill in, all the while trying to put another one on top to completely
hide it, and then wrap yet 2 more to cover. I then have more of the macaroni
salad very very close so that as soon as she takes the ones with the pill, I
can try to shove the "good stuff" at her. It did work. Yeah for me. Hopefully
she will feel better soon. She is such a good little girl and I hate to see her
in any kind of discomfort. Needless to say, I'm exhausted from it. ha ha.
Between her and I we don't make a whole person/dog.
I am about to make myself some Ramen noodle soup. Don't
care for the soup, but love the noodles. ha ha...
So that's it so far today
Until next time

list of 10 - 10 things for a perfect weekend - May 11, 2012
I just finished reading Paradise Valley by Robyn Carr.
This was the best book in the series so far. I was losing a bit of interest in
the series after the last few, but this one knocked it out of the ballpark. It
is a definite puffs plus book. (Need something more tender than kleenex). ha
ha.
I was thinking that I haven't done a list of 10 in a
while, so here is one.
10 things for a perfect weekend.
1. making cards
2. crocheting
3. scrapbooking
4. reading
5. cool drink of sweet tea
6. cool breeze blowing
7. being at the beach
8. barbecue ribs and potato salad
9. good friends and or family
10.a good hair day.... ha ha
So, what would your list look like? Feel free to post. I'd love to know.

Morning Waffle Dip,Salad, and Flower Moon ~ May 5,2012
Yesterday was a great day. Made a wonderful breakfast,
which I took pictures and am going to include the recipe too. Went and chatted
with the ladies at scrapbooking. Hurting to much to sit there and work on
anything, and the moon was spectacular, called the "Flower Moon" or the "Milk
Moon". Took pictures of that too.
I made the best breakfast yesterday. I very seldom eat
breakfast, but because I need to eat something with my medication, I decided to
jump right in. I made a recipe I saw on the Food Channel's Hungry Girl. It was
amazing, and so low on calories. I then made a great salad for late lunch/early
supper. Either I was
hungry yesterday or something, because it was all so good. Then I had
Cheez-It's.... They were good too. ha ha.

The Green Thing- Join in - The pool and a review - April 27, 2012
The Pool Where I Swim
Can you think of any other things we did "way back when"? Let me know..
Gosh, some days there is not a whole lot to write about
and then again, other days there are.
I finally took the plunge, literally. Went to the pool.
It was so hot. I went and got my bottled water, stopped at the library, and it
was so hot that as soon as I got home I changed and into the pool I went. It
felt so nice and relaxing. If I wasn't afraid of drowning, I could have fallen
asleep in there. I can't find the exercises from the therapist to do, so I just
walked and floated. My back was hurting so much and I wasn't sure I could pull
myself up the steps. Still feeling really sore, but I am going to try to do it
more often. The truth.. I am hurting really bad. ha ha
Product Review: Coppertone Spray.... Yuck.. When you are
laying in the sun and even afterwards it feels sort of gummy. I had to really
scrub it off in the shower. I would not buy that again. I figured being I have
to apply it myself and sure as heck can't reach my back, it would be good
thing. Not. I may use it for my back to get rid of it, but that's it. I will
stick with my Bain deSoleil and regular Coppertone. Is there anything that
smells like summer like Coppertone. Love the coconutty smell. ha
ha
An old high school classmate posted the following today,
and I thought it was so cool that I decided to put it on here, and expand on
it.
“The Green Thing"
Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the older woman, that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment.
The woman apologized and explained, "We didn't have this green thing back in my earlier days."
The young clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations."
She was right -- our generation didn't have the green thing in its day.
Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were recycled.
But we didn't have the green thing back in our day.
Grocery stores bagged our groceries in brown paper bags, that we reused for numerous things, most memorable besides household garbage bags, was the use of brown paper bags as book covers for our schoolbooks. This was to ensure that public property, (the books provided for our use by the school) was not defaced by our scribblings. Then we were able to personalize our books on the brown paper bags.
But too bad we didn't do the green thing back then.
We walked up stairs, because we didn't have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn't climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks.
But she was right. We didn't have the green thing in our day.
Back then, we washed the baby's diapers because we didn't have the throwaway kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy-gobbling machine burning up 220 volts -- wind and solar power really did dry our clothes back in our early days. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing.
But that young lady is right; we didn't have the green thing back in our day.
Back then, we had one TV, or radio, in the house -- not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana . In the kitchen, we blended and stirred by hand because we didn't have electric machines to do everything for us. When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used wadded up old newspapers to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap. Back then, we didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn't need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity.
But she's right; we didn't have the green thing back then.
We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull.
But we didn't have the green thing back then.
Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service. We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn't need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 23,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest burger joint.
But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn't have the green thing back then?

I also remember Charlie Chips (Charles Chips, but we called
them Charlie Chips) They would come in a big can and when you ran out they would
just refill your can...
Stockings, not pantyhose, so that when you got a run in one
leg, you didn't have to throw out the whole thing. Just replace it with another
one.
Opened windows instead of air conditioning - I can not live without air now...
Wax paper instead of plastic bags
Until the next time.....
