I guess I forgot to post a picture of the scarf that I made the other day,  Just finished crocheting another scarf.  This one came out so pretty.  The other one did too, but I like the colors of this one too.  It is a variegated one just like the blue one was. I need to thank my neighbor and friend Michelle for modeling it for me.

I am also selling them for $8.00.  If they need to be shipped the postage will be extra, but only the amount, nothing over.  I am not out to make a killing, just want to be able to buy a little more of the essentials that I need.  Disability doesn't take you far.  So, any extra money I can make, won't really be extra, but it sure will help, and I love making them.  I am also selling the scrunchies for $3.00 each or 2 for $5.00. Again, shipping would be extra.

When did I become a napkin???  I could not believe that Beulah took a drink and proceeded to come over to me.  She put her head down on my lap, and proceeded to wipe her mouth.  Both sides.  I had to laugh.  She looked up at me like, see, I did it myself.  ha ha..

I am trying to do to much at once.  I can't wait for The Biggest Loser to come on tonight.  Only problem is I don't have anything to snack on.  I know, it's an oxymoron to watch a show about weight loss and me sitting here with a bag of chips.  But, no snacks in the house, so it's just plain old water for me.  I am also still reading The Litigator.  It was real good in the beginning and now it's getting to be more of the lawyering stuff.  ha ha

Well, I have bored you enough.  Until next time

Breakfast Bacon Cups Recipe

I saw this on facebook and it looked so good.  Thought I would post it to share with everyone and so I wouldn't lose it..  ha ha

Breakfast Bacon Cups

Ingredients:
White or Wheat Bread
Bacon
Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Eggs
Butter
Maple Syrup
Salt & Pepper
(Note quantities not added. This will vary depending on how many you plan to make. It’s safe to estimate about 2-3 per person. )

Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees. While the oven is pre-heating partially cook the bacon for about 3-5 minutes in a large skillet set to medium-high. You want the bacon to be a little cooked but still pliable. Mix maple syrup and butter in a small sauce pan and heat over medium low so butter melts (you can’t mess this up so don’t worry about amounts too much. I usually use ½ a stick of butter and a cup or so of syrup).

Using a cookie cutter, ravioli cutter, or whatever else you may have that can cut a 3 inch diameter circle—cut circles out of the bread slices.
Here comes the good part! Grease/non-stick spray muffin pan and line with bacon so that is circles each mold. Now, brush each side of the bread with the syrup/butter mixture and place in cup so that it rests evenly at the bottom of the mold. You may have to do a little trimming of the bread but it’s ok if it doesn’t fit perfectly either. Crack an egg into each mold, season with salt and pepper and give each cup a sprinkle of cheese (you can also add the cheese on top of bread, beneath the egg).
Place in oven for 7-8 mins. This is for a slightly runny egg. If you’re looking for a solid yoke cook for about 10 mins.

Saturday January 28, 2012

Just a lazy kind of Saturday.  I went and picked up my mail today and 2 more birthday cards were there.  Keep them coming and I'll celebrate it all year.  ha ha.  I really did appreciate them.  Then off to the library to pick up my books before they returned them to shelves.  One is a crochet book (my newest obsession) and John Grisham's new book "The Litigators".  I only read a few pages and was totally hooked on it.  I have never been a fan.  I read the Firm many many moons ago, and may have read another one of his, but can't be sure.  This one grabbed me right away, and that's what I like in a book.  So I am anxious to read it.

Along with reading, I am almost done a wavy kind of scarf.  When it's done, I am going to see if my neighbor will "model" it so I can take a picture of it.  I love the way it is coming out.  And the color is so pretty.

I would like to turn my hobby into a business if at all possible.  Living on my disability gets really hard sometimes, and a little extra money would be welcomed.

My brain goes so much faster than my hands,  ha ha. I always have good intentions, but sometimes have a hard time doing something with them. ha ha.

I got this from another blog and really wanted to put it on here so I could refer back to it.  This is from Crochet with Raymond
http://crochethealingandraymond.wordpress.com/2012/01/25/the-third-wheel/  For me, this is great. You might want to check out his blog.  He does wonderful work.

Migraine - January 27, 2012

Migraine ~ Therefore, nothing much for today.  It is better than it was this morning, but still dealing with the after affects. But since I promised myself to do this every day for at least a month, I consider this is post.  Not a good one, but still it used up paper, well, computer space, or whatever you call this box I'm typing into... ha ha.

My birthday ~ Thank you ~ January 26, 2012

Well, today is the day I turned 2 x 29 1/2..  That's pretty old in dog years. (413 years old, and I look good for my age)  ha ha.. Which got me to thinking about birthdays.  I wonder why we celebrate the day we were born and not our mom's who were in agony that day.  It was actually her BIRTH day, and I suppose mine too.  Just me thinking, and we all know how dangerous that is.

I am so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends.  It's really hard to celebrate any holiday when your alone.  I know there are many many other people in the same boat, and it takes what should be a happy occasion and turns it into a day of reflection.  Reflection of the birthdays I have had with my husband, my mom, and dad.  I know things change and I've accepted that..  I do believe they are celebrating it with me today.  I was sitting outside with Beulah, and a yellow butterfly flew right by me.  I always associate butterflies with my mom, dad, and Don.  And Don's favorite color was yellow.  It just gave me a little umph to know they are still here.  I know they are in my heart, but it's nice to know they are showing me their love.  This may be crazy to some, but for me, I choose to believe in little signs...

I thank  G_d for the wonderful people in my life.

Total Waste Of Makeup Day ~ January 25, 2012

It is such a pain to have to wait for an appointment.  Well, if you are sick and you call, and they can't take you, that's an even worse pain, but I'm talking about waiting around until your appointment time..  Why is that?  I never want to do anything except get my shower and have my coffee.  Not that I do much more than that on any given day, but it cuts into my play time...  HA HA.  Torture today, I mean physical therapy.  I have no idea why I am even doing this.  The therapist (physical one, not the shrink one) says it won't help with my back.  Nothing will except surgery, and I am not into that idea at all.  So, it's therapy and back shots.. Which reminds me.  That's another thing to wait for.  Your up, and you know there is someone in the doctor's office, but they won't answer the phones until exactly 9:00.  Seems like we wait a lot.
Therapy went okay, if pain is any indication.  ha ha.  She gave me some exercises to do in the pool also.  It felt soooo good when she put the ice pack on my back.  It took a while to find the right spot for the tingly wirey things she attached to my back.  She turned it up so high I thought I was levitating off the table.  Looked around and did not see David Copperfield.....ha ha.. Once I recovered from that, it was much better.  My back stayed frozen for a little while and it felt so good.  Now to find a way to strap some ice cold packs to my back 24/7.  ha ha
So, as you can see, it was a total waste of makeup kinda day..  Nothing but torture...ha ha, and I am not wearing lipstick to that.  ha ha.

Until next time..........................

Here Kitty Kitty ~ January 24, 2012

I had so much fun today.  My crochet group celebrated my birthday today.  Cake that was delicious and a beautiful home made shawl.  It is eggplant color and absolutely beautiful.

With the help of Debra (poor thing, broke a nail too), I made my first cat.  I am sure as I dare to do more, I will get better. The picture above is my lavendar and white cat.  I love it.. This is before I groomed her.  Have to make her all she she looking. ha ha.

I am so lucky to have so many wonderful people in my life, both family and friends.  It really means a lot to me and I am learning to surround myself with people that matter, and not ones that bring me down.  Been down that road, and I am choosing not to go down it again.  My problem is that I am to trusting and open.  I don't want  to change who I am, just want to hone in my skills.  ha ha..

Got lots of mail.  Haven't been to the mailbox in over a week, and I'm surprised that they could shove in another envelope.  ha ha...  So I have pile to go through.  First things first.  Happy Hooking won....ha ha....

Beulah is so cute...  I pulled up and before I got to the door I could hear her errrrr'ing me already. Very low.  Then it increased as I walked in the door.  You would have thought I was gone forever.  In all fairness to her, I don't think she knows the difference between 4 hours and 4 minutes.  All she knows is that we are not attached at the hip at that moment.  HA HA.  Remember...she owns me, not the other way around.....So, until next time.

Chinese New Year - List of 10- - January 23, 2012

Happy Chinese New Year 2012.  This made my decision on my next List of 10 Things. Not sure how the New Year corresponds to food, but that's what I thought of.  Seems like my mind has a mind of it's own. ha ha
List of my 10 Favorite Foods:
  1. Turkey
  2. Barbecue Pork from Sonny's
  3. Hoagies
  4. Roast Beef - hot or cold in a sandwich with mayonnaise
  5. Bow Ties and Kasha
  6. Potato Pancakes
  7. Tastykakes
  8. Potatoes, baked, fried, boiled, mashed - every which way
  9. A really good salad
10. Chicken and Broccoli from the Chinese Restaurant
There are lots more, and it was hard to pick from them, so these are some that I like.  What about you?
Today is kind of cloudy but warm.  81 degrees.  A little to warm for me, but there was a light breeze that felt so good.  I would have loved to have a hammock inside a netting thingy and a good book.  Either read or fall asleep.  Need the netting, to many bugs.  ha ha
Had yet another doctor's appointment.  I swear,  they should be paying me to just sit in their offices.  I'm a walking talking advertisement for them. I talk to anyone and everyone.  ha ha.  The positive side of that is that I do get a lot of reading done in that amount of time.
I mailed out a few postcards for my Swap-Bot swaps.  With postage gone up, it is going to put a crimp in everyone's mailings, especially overseas.  On the other hand it is still a bargain.  I think that in an age where  everyone is using the internet, it is still nice to get a physical letter or card in the mail. Nothing can replace that.  Now bills, that's another story.  They can keep them.  ha ha.  I don't know of anyone who likes to see them in their mailbox. ha ha... So even though the prices have gone up, I will still be sending things.
Highlights of the new single-piece First-Class Mail pricing, effective Jan. 22, 2012, include:

Letters (1 oz.) – 1-cent increase to 45 cents
Letters additional ounces – unchanged at 20 cents
Postcards – 3-cent increase to 32 cents
Letters to Canada or Mexico (1 oz.) – 5-cent increase to 85 cents.
Letters to other international destinations – 7-cent increase to $1.05
So just jump in with your list.
Until next time....

Sunday January 22, 2012

Thought this was such a pretty relaxing picture.
Well it sure has been a laid back relaxing day.  I played on the computer for a little while, read a bit, worked on a crochet project, read a couple of card/scrapbook magazines that I got from Judy yesterday, spent some time with my friend Liz and her son Gabe, looked through some crochet books Liz brought me over, and finally jumped into the shower at about 1:00.  The visit came after the shower.  ha ha.  Then off to my brothers for supper. I am ready to head on into bed to put my legs up.  They are so swollen.  Just not feeling right.  I need to take Beulah out and then head on in.

I don't have a ten list today.  Sorry.  How is it that I can sit here and just listen to Beulah snore lightly, and then get louder.  She is a heavy breather.  I think she may need a c-pap machine.  ha ha.  It is so comforting just knowing she is there.  She doesn't feel up to snuff tonight either.  Belly making sizzling noises, and she has rubbed a hot spot on her paw.  My poor baby girl.

Well, that's today.  Until next time.

10 Favorite Games - January 21, 2012

Well, here it is Saturday evening and I am going to hunker down with either the book I’m reading, reading the new magazines I got from Judy, the postcards I am sending from postcrossing, watching t.v., or my crocheting.  As you can see, my evening is wide open….Who says we don’t have choices?? ha ha.  I think that frozen coffee I had tonight may be why my eyes are like saucers.  Earlier I thought I would need toothpicks to keep them open.

Went to scrapbooking today, and did absolutely NOTHING.  Just sat and talked.  I don’t think anyone did anything.  Danielle (you’ll get to know her, and lots of other people too), was showing how to use the Cricuit Machine.  Me..  I need to learn when I’m actually using something.  My brain does not compute on all levels, contrary to popular belief.  Ha ha. I really enjoy being with the girls both at scrapbooking and crochet.

If anyone wants to give me any ideas for my “10” lists, please let me know

Today the list will be 10 Favorite Games

1. Bejeweled on the computer

2. Bingo Blitz on the computer

3. Zuma Blitz on the computer

4. Words with Friends on the computer

5. Scrabble

6. Card games like poker, solitaire, etc.

7. Bunco

8. Pokeno

9. Jeopardy on the computer

10. $10,000 pyramid on the computer

Oh my goodness. I just realized most of the things I do are on the computer.  That is not a good thing.  To much on my back, although I have cut way back and try to only be on for 10 or so minutes at a time.

Well, leave me your 10 Favorite Games, and maybe I’ll become addicted to them too..  Ha ha..  Would love for you to share.

Until the next time…..

Top 10 sites I want to see in the US ~ January 20, 2012

Happy Friday.... For me it's just another day of the week, but for many of you it's the end of a work week, so Yeah.....

I had to miss my first widow's group meeting today : (   I went to Sonny's with Lucille.  I feel so bad for her.  Here I am talking about her like you know her.  ha ha.  I had the salad bar, bbq pork (sliced) sandwich on garlic bread, baked potato and sweet tea.  Great for my sugar levels.  Oh well....

Here is my list for today

Top 10 sites I want to see in the US

1. The aurora borealis in Alaska

2. The icebergs in Alaska

3. The Coyotte Butttes Wave in Arizona/Utah

4. The Cable Cars in San Francisco

5. Pike Place Market in Seattle, Washington

6. The Water Tower Coffee Pot in Stanton Iowa

7. The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville Tennessee

8. Branson Missouri

9. TeePee Motel in Wharton Texas

10. The Southern Most Point in Key West Florida

I really do hope you leave your list here too.  I should be getting my things together for the crop tomorrow.  Have a card I need to make, and I never have everything I need.  That's how it is trying to bring things to the crop, especially for a scatterbrain like myself.  ha ha.  I do much better in my own chaos at home.  ha ha.

Here it is 6:30 and I just had to turn on my air.  It's cool outside, but so hot in here.  Just enough to knock the heat out.  ha ha.

Well, that's it for now.  Have a great night and a wonderful weekend.  Until next time.

LISTS ~ 10 Restaurants ~ January 19, 2012

I was thinking, (dangerous I know), but I decided to try to 100 questions and answers.  Doing 10 at a time on a subject.  Join me and let me know yours too.

Thought I would start out with:

10 Restaurants

1. Sonny's bbq. - Love their barbecued pork.  Mmm Mmm Good, and they have wonderful sweet tea.  Don loved Sonny's too.

2. Olive Garden - Love their soup and salad - The salad is so crisp and with the croutons, and black olives, it's killer.  I like their potato gnocchi soup too. The bread is good.

3. Publix - Okay, technically it's not a restaurant, it's a grocery store, but they have the BEST hoagies (subs).  And I prefer a sandwich to a meal.

4. Creative Arts Cafe - They have down home cooking and the best Reubens.

5. Applebees - Not so much the food, as the soup.  They have the best Onion Soup.  Not on the menu, but if you ask for it they have it.  Also their margaritas are pretty darn good.

6. LaSpada's - Hands down the best Cheesesteak this side of Philly...

7. Cracker Barrel - Love their dumplings, and the gift shop isn't too shabby either.

8.  Dunkin Donuts - Just for a great cup of coffee

9. Red Lobster - crab legs, shrimp, and the cheddar biscuits.

10. Genuines - I love their Calle Ocho pulled pork..

This was harder than I thought it would be because I don't go to eat at fancy shamcy places. I prefer a good home cooked meal (by someone else) ha ha.  Brisket with bow ties and kasha, turkey and stuffing, spaghetti, that kind of food..  ha ha

Had yet another doctor's appointment, and I'm not crazy.  ha ha..Just lots of pain.  Then it was off to my crocheting.  I am so grateful to Marivel for "picking me up" at Wally World.  What can I say, I was a cheap date. I was glad to see Rebecca came too. Started to work on the cat that Steve and Debra came up with.

Trying to set up some mini goals, which for some are second nature, but for me, they are hurdles.  The first one I did was go out to eat alone.  That was tough, but not as bad as I thought.  No panic attack.  ha ha.. I have my next one in my mind, but don't want to put it from pen to paper (in this case ink to paper - sort of the same thing, pen-ink- yup, the same) until I accomplish it.

Well, I have tortured you all enough.  Please include your list of favorites.  I would love to see them.  Remember, I am going to be doing this list of list thing so please participate.

Reality Setting In ~ January 18, 2012

Sorry I am not myself today.  This picture reminds me of me today.  Pensive and deep in thought.  Sad, and thinking, thinking, thinking. Good things happened, but so did reality,

It is just beginning to hit me how bad my back really is, and that the major surgery they want to do, is probably inevitable.  I went to physical therapy and they said whatever they may be able to do, won't do anything other than MAYBE help strengthen some muscles so that when I have the surgery it will make it easier on the rehab part.  The doctor wanted me to go 3 times a week but the physical therapist said only 2 times a week.  3 times would be to much on my back.  Also she wants me to use a cane.  Not happening.  I think that's when it hit me.  I am in a funk about it all.  I worry about the rehab part, will I make it through surgery, and Beulah... My baby.  (Big Sigh) It's times like this when I really miss my husband.  I believe he is watching over me, but still, wish he was here in person. I sure could use one of his hugs right about now.

On the up side, I got a laptop.  The WIFI signal here is so bad, I will need to get something and then something else.  ha ha.  You can see how much I know.  Thank goodness for brothers, well especially mine.  At times, I would be lost without him.

Going to go and read and who knows........Good shows on tonight.  The Middle, Modern Family, and Revenge.  Maybe that will take my mind off of things.

Till next time....................................

Hooking and Pattern and Joke ~ January 17, 2012

Well, here it is Tuesday, January 17, 2012 and lo and behold, no doctor appointment.  Yeah  ! ! !  I had a good time with my fellow Happy Hookers.  This picture is how many it takes for me to make something.  Lots of help.  ha ha.. Still can't get that pom pom cat, but I will.  Made a new scrunchie, and I really liked it.

Scrunchie 2

1. Single Crochet around rubber band (40-50)
2. Use only back stitch, chain 5 and single crochet in the back all the way around
3. Use only front stitch, chain 5 and single crochet in front loop all around.

I really like this one better.  It seems to be much lighter.  I will get the pom pom cat done at some point.  After seeing how it should be done, compared to what I did (yup...a first grader would have done better) I have some practice in my future.  ha ha..

Tomorrow I go to physical therapy.  Oh joy... ha ha....I am just Mary Sunshine aren't I.  And I am already dreading the shots in my back on Friday.... I mean really dreading it.

Marivel's Microwave Lava Cake and Doctor ~ January 16, 2012

Well started out the week with a doctor's appointment.  Let's just say it's one of 4 this week, which includes 1 for the initial visit to physical therapy.  I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.  I'm not old enough for all this.  ha ha...  But, my blood work came out good, yeah...  And so did my A1C for my diabetes.  I forgot to get copies, so will call them and have them get them ready for me and I'll pick them up on Thursday or Wednesday.  Whichever comes first.  Well, I know Wednesday comes before Thursday, but depends on where I am at the time as to when I will get them..I make myself dizzy.  ha ha

I also had a delicious lunch today at a friends.  Thanks Marivel. She made the BEST salad.  I took some home and will be having that in a little while for supper.  She also has 2 pit bulls, that I must say I was a little leary about, but they are babies, and so cute.  She also made a scrumptious Lava Cake in the microwave oven.  Yup...  In the microwave.  If I remember correctly here is the recipe

Marivels Microwave Lava Cake

cake mix
chocolate frosting

Mix the cake mix as instructed on their package, you know, eggs, water, oil, etc, along with 3 ice cream scoops of chocolate frosting.  Mix with a whisk.  She did it in her microwave rice steamer. Nuke it for 8 minutes, and yummy in the tummy... It was that good...And who knew you could make a cake in the microwave?  Not me.

She has more scrapbooking things than I do,  and really beautiful stuff.  I can't wait to see what she will be working on.So, I am thinking about that salad.  Who cares if I can't breathe from still being stuffed.  ha ha..

Hope you make the cake.  If you do, let me know how you like it.  I loved it.

Can We Tawk ~ January 15, 2012

Can we tawk....  I'm from Philly and Jersey and that's what we say..  ha ha

Finished reading "A Summer In Sonoma" by "Robyn Carr".  I really enjoyed the book and her characters, and want to read more of her books.  I'm like that.  If I find an author that I like I try to read all the books they have written.  This one was about 4 friends and their relationships since high school.  It is also about their husbands and boyfriends, and just a good book.  Easy reading.

I am sure someone thinks I'm nuts.  Really..  I was on the way home from my brother's (good supper) and was stopped at the light when "I Don't Want This Night" by Luke Bryan came onSo here I am rocking out to that song, which I love, shaking my head, playing on the steering wheel, when out of the corner of my eye I see a person staring at me in the car next to me.  Oh my gosh.  He was laughing, and then I got to laughing, the light turned green, and I took off quick. ha ha..I am sure he could see how red my face was even though it was night, dark, and my windows are tinted.  ha ha..  Note to self, watch for other cars...  ha ha.  Good thing they couldn't hear me.  I threw away all that money my mom gave me for singing lessons.  Think I bought bazooka bubble gum with it, or something like that.  ha ha.

Postcards ~ January 14, 2012

Not sure if this will show up very well, but I thought the color was awful pretty, and matched the water in the postcard sign.

I got two postcards in the mail today and will have to upload them onto the computer, and onto my facebook. I have slowed down a lot on the postcards, especially International. They are just getting very expensive to mail, almost a dollar a card. I still do it, but not as much. US isn't bad at all. It is also getting harder and harder to find postcards around here. You would think with it being a touristy place we would be able to find them everywhere, but nope.

Went to the library and picked up a couple of books (they look good) and also some crochet books. I need more hours in the day for my hobbies. Writing, reading, postcards, making cards, scrapbooking, crocheting, and more.

There was a nip in the air today. Only in the low 40's this morning. It was in the 50's and so nice out. Beulah and I just sat out front. Her laying in the sun and me reading. Now I am working on a headache and just took a couple Tylenol.

Think I will see if I can read with my headache. If I can, great, if not, I won't. Simple as that.

That's today so far.

Moaning ~ Morning - Oh What A Day Jan 13, 2012

Today was an interesting day. First, It's Friday the 13th. Not sure if that is a good day or not, but so far it's been an okay day. My old boss, my favorite boss of all time, Mr. Stone, always told me that it was the luckiest day of his life as he was born on a Friday the 13th and he had been lucky ever since. He was an awesome man and boss. Who else lets you call in well because you want to go to the beach and not lie to them. ha ha. RIP Mr. Stone.

Had my appointment with the Pain Management Doctor today, and he wants me to go back to the shots in my back again. I did not like them then, and don't want them now, but I will NOT let them do surgery on my back, so I will have to go through this again and pray that it will help a little. It didn't last time. The only thing it did was give me all the bad side effects. Insomnia (up 3 days straight with NO sleep, red face, blood sugar way way high, and more. Next week is full of appointments with doctors and physical therapist. Have plans for lunch with a friend in there, and crochet group on Tuesday and Thursday. I am just a social butterfly... Okay. so doctor's make it onto that list, but lets face it, I see them more than anyone else. ha ha.

I got to thinking. And for me that's dangerous. Did you ever stop to think that if you just changed one letter in moAning it would be moRning. And that's one reason (in my mind) that we're moaning about getting up so early in the morning.

Nothing good on TV that I can think of, so it's reading and crocheting for me. Temps are getting cooler and will turn cold during the night, which means I will wake up with "crispy hair"....ha ha.

Thursday, January 12, 2012

So,can you guess where I was today? If you guessed Popeye's you would be wrong. ha ha. I was at my crocheting group at Half Off Books. I love that place and the group of gals and guys are wonderful. I really am learning. I was so glad that my friend Pat decided to come today. I sensed she really enjoyed herself... Hey Pat. It's Yolanda.... ha ha That is if you even read this. ha ha

Below is the hat I crocheted for my brother to match the scarf I made him.

I look like a convict that just went into a gas station bathroom, colored my hair, stuck on a hat and took a picture to make sure no one would recognize me. ha ha... I have no idea what those marks are. Oh wait. I think it was that pen thing when I tried to resize the picture.

As you can see, I am really enjoying my latest endeavor, and will be able to cross that off my bucket list. My list is more on the practical side. Next need to get a coloring book so I can color every page. Don't ask. ha ha. Just as a kid I only colored the ones I liked. Now I want to do all of them, even if I don't want to. ha ha...

That's it for today. Until the next time.....

TV Shows ~ Resolutions? January 11, 2012

Happy Wednesday. I have had trouble all day remembering what day it is...One day just melts into the next. Yeah for Wednesday night. 3 of my favorite shows are on tonight. The Middle....This show cracks me up... I love that family. Reminds me of mine growing up. ha ha. Then Modern Family. Another one that I think is really funny. It's another dysfunctional family, but in a good way. ha ha. Do I see a pattern here? And then one of the best dramas on t.v. .... drum roll please....
Revenge. I totally love that show, and I love the lead actress. She was one of my favorite characters on Brother's and Sister's when that was on.

And Friday will be the last day of One Life To Live. All My Children off the air, and now One Life to Live. So sad...............Daytime t.v. is not what it used to be. I remember coming home from school to Edge of Night. That was one of my mom's favorite soaps. Later she also got hooked on AMC and OLTL, along with GH.

I am so proud of myself. I made a resolution to not make any resolutions, and so far I am sticking to it. 11 days and going strong. I think I can do this. HA HA.

Well, time to read for a little while, or maybe go onto FB for a few minutes, and then T.V. time.

Happy Hookers Just the Same - Jan. 10, 2012

Well here it is Tuesday, January 10, 2012. Just thought I would let you know the date. ha ha..

I was busy Happy Hooking with my Happy Hookers group. Oh yeah, we can hook with the best of them. Well, they all can, I'm just learning. ha ha.. I think today we did more talking and laughing than crocheting. Looked through what seemed like a ton of crochet books. Just plotting, I mean planning, my next project. I want to get a jump on some Christmas gifts for next year. The main thing is deciding what to make. Oh.. I know what my project for the very near future is going to be. Meow... It's a secret in case it doesn't come out right. ha ha. I am going to wind (wind and wind are the same, not the blowing thing, the turning thing, although I will not be turning, hmmm.. this is puzzling. up with a boat load of yarn....

How can people really learn English when it's confusing at times.

How is that a Polish person can polish her furniture.....Polish...Polish?
seal (like the animal) and seal like to close

Just a thought that popped into my head.

Well, I'm outta here for now.

Goodnight

January 9, 2012

I was attacked by a vampire first thing this morning. Had my blood work done and I know I have small veins that shut down and move, but I can't stand it when they get in there and then dig with the needle. She's lucky I'm a lady (quit laughing) and didn't haul off and smack her. ha ha. Upside. no bruise, Downside, sore as all get out...

I like the cartoon for the blood work. I really couldn't tell you what color my blood is, as I never look. If I did, I would probably get sick to my stomach. I can't stand the sight of blood, others or my own. (Shiver shiver shiver)...

The best part of blood work is going for my Dunkin Donuts Coffee after having to fast. They can keep their donuts, and whatever, just give me some of that great coffee. I know most people are Starbuck fans, but not me. Dunkin Donuts Coffee all the way. And it stays so dang hot for so long....It just makes me sing..ha ha.

Then I wasted another 1 1/2 hours at the pulmonary doctors. It was a typical "you know your getting older" day for me. ha ha. I tried to read my book, but the people near me were really loud and I became engrossed in their conversation. ha ha. Was that wrong? I mean, I didn't give an opinion or interrupt them... ha ha.. It helped pass the time and it was obviously a daughter and mother and the daughter was filling out the new patient paperwork for the mom, and was asking all kinds of questions.
They were loudly disagreeing on whether the brother (the mothers brother) (who is still alive), was in good health or not. He is 77 and according to the niece not in good condition, and according to the sister, he is doing good for his age.
Let's just say it passed the long waiting period.

So, have a wonderful evening. I am going to take Beulah out and then read and watch The Housewives of Beverly Hills. I so need a life. ha ha..

Memories - January 8, 2012

Well, Happy Sunday,

It's been a typical Sunday here in my neck of the woods. Playing on the computer and facebook, reading, and eating. Hey... that rhymed. ha ha.

Still reading the same book. I should be done it tonight or tomorrow. My mind has not been on it much at all. I read about 15 minutes and then I'm on to something else. Beulah has been so lovey dovey. She must know I will be gone the better part of tomorrow. I did go to the library and the grocery store for a few little things. Got 2 more reading books and a "Crocheting for Dummies" book. Even those dummy books I have trouble with sometimes. ha ha.... But I won't know until I look at it..... It got really warm out there, and I couldn't get my window open, so I put on the air conditioner and it feels so good.. I do better in cool than hot.

When I was going through my computer files, I came across this graphic, and it's funny because I have the perfect poem to go along with it, and the perfect true story.

I remember all of these . It seems like it was such a simpler life back then. But when you think about it, just the phones were a pain. We had a party line at one time, and people would listen in on your conversation. When I graduated high school I worked at J.C. Penney's in downtown Philly. It was the regional credit office for the eastern seaboard. They made the HUGE mistake of sending me to school to train as a relief switch board operator. When the regular girl would go on break or lunch, I was often called to take over. Well, take over I did. All those wires with plugs. I would listen in on conversations to see if they were done, and when I got so frustrated because of all the people on hold, I would just pull out ALL the plugs, and then apologize for them being disconnected when they called back. ha ha. This happened A LOT

I WANT TO GO BACK TO THE TIME WHEN

Decisions were made by going "eeny-meeny-miney-mo."

Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming "do over!"

"Race issues" meant arguing about who ran the fastest.

Money issues were handled by whoever was the banker in "Monopoly."

Catching the fireflies could happily occupy an entire evening.

It wasn't odd to have two or three "best" friends.

Being old referred to anyone over 20.

The net on a tennis court was the perfect height to play volleyball and rules didn't matter.

The worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was "cooties".

It was magic when dad would "remove" his thumb.

It was unbelievable that dodge ball wasn't an Olympic event.

Having a weapon in school meant being caught with a slingshot.

Nobody was prettier than Mom.

Scrapes and bruises were kissed and made better.

It was a big deal to finally be tall enough to ride the "big people" rides at the amusement park.

A foot of snow was a dream come true.

Abilities were discovered because of a "double-dog-dare."

Saturday morning cartoons weren't 30-minute ads for action figures.

No shopping trip was complete unless a new toy was brought home.

Spinning around, getting dizzy, and falling down was cause for giggles.

The worst embarrassment was being picked last for a team.

War was a card game.

Water balloons were the ultimate weapon.

Baseball cards in the spokes transformed any bike into a motorcycle.

Taking drugs meant orange-flavored chewable aspirin.

Ice cream was considered a basic food group.

Older siblings were the worst tormentors, but also the fiercest protectors.

If you can remember most or all of these, then you have had a great life.

Well, that's it for now... Until the next time.
